About Me...
Hello, everyone! My name is Kimberleigh Marro and I am both an administrator and social science / art teacher here at National University Virtual High School. I mainly teach AP European History, Art History, Art Foundations and Digital Photography. Ever since I was a little girl (oh so long ago), I have always loved to draw and paint--I also love learning about the stories of the artists themselves, their lives, inspirations and the times during which they lived. I guess that's how I ended up teaching in the humanities subject areas--it is truly a passion of mine and I hope I can make these events, people, situations and art works in history come alive for you!
I started my career in education back in 1992 (I know, that's probably way before many of you were born!) and have been a teacher, school librarian, and technology coordinator all before becoming a school administrator here at NUVHS. In terms of education background, I have degrees in psychology, humanities, liberal studies, and curriculum and instruction in addition to several teaching credentials and an administrative services credential. The best part of my day is spent working with students--I guess that is just the teacher in me!
I live in San Diego, California, with my husband and our English Bulldogs, Diesel and Lucille. I still draw and paint and receive the occasional commission to do some art work for local businesses around town (...and a few non-local folks here and there). My husband and I love to cook, travel, go to movies and attend events. You can usually find me at farmer's markets and in museums on weekends!
I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you as we go through the course!
